Wedding traditions will always have a place, but more couples are choosing to make it their own or create new traditions altogether.
Traditions are what make your wedding memorable and unique and if you’re looking for a few original ideas, here are some to inspire you.
- The Bouquet Giveaway
We all know the frenzy that comes with the traditional bouquet toss and if you don’t love that idea, there is another alternative. Instead of tossing your bouquet into a crowd, why not give it away to a guest who is next in line to get married? And if none of your guests are getting married in the near future, you can always gift your bouquet to someone special instead.
- Fashion Freedom
If you’re planning to have a wedding party, here’s your chance to change things up a bit. Instead of telling everyone what they need to wear on the day, give them a few color and style guidelines and let them choose their own outfits. This is especially great if you’re having a mixed-gender wedding party or if you know someone is self-conscious about their body.
- The Solo Walk
Traditionally, the bride would have a family member walk down the aisle with them. However, if you have a bit of conflict in your family or your dad or mom is no longer around, you may want to consider walking down the aisle on your own. The plus to this is that all the focus will be on you in your photos.
- The Private Vows
Many of today’s couples are forgoing saying their vows in front of everyone and sharing them in private instead. This way, you and your partner get to share your most intimate thoughts before your ceremony and only need to share the traditional vows and all the legalities with your guests.
- The Slideshow
Not crazy about the idea of hitting the dance floor alone in front of all your guests? Create a slideshow instead. The slideshow only needs to be a few minutes long and it can showcase your relationship from the start to this moment. Dim the lights, play your favorite love song and let your guests share in your memories before you toast.
When it comes to wedding traditions, there really are no hard and fast rules – make your day your own!
