Steps to Take If You’re Unhappy with Your Wedding Photos

Your wedding photos are one of the few things you have left after your big day. You also have to wait several weeks before you receive them so it can be devastating to look at your photos and realize you don’t like them.

So, what should you do if you find yourself in this unfortunate situation?

-          Know who you’re hiring. Hopefully, before you even get to your wedding day, you’re doing your due diligence. When you take the time to thoroughly research a potential photographer, there’s a good chance you can avoid this situation altogether. Read reviews, ask around, and have a proper look through past wedding albums before you pay a deposit.

-          Make sure you’re in the right headspace. If at first, you don’t love your wedding photos, make sure that you’re not being overly critical of yourself. Make sure that you’re in a positive frame of mind before you sit down and review your photos.

-          Review your contract. If after giving your photos a second look you decide you’re still not happy, it’s time to get your contract out. Look for any clauses regarding client satisfaction and decide whether you have any recourse. Just remember to talk through your concerns with your photographer in a polite and professional way to not cause further setbacks.

-          Talk about editing. If you’re not dissatisfied with all of your wedding photos, pick the ones you want to change and ask your photographer to edit them again or change them to black and white.

-          Retake them. The final option is to arrange a second wedding shoot where you can recreate some of your favorite shots. Unfortunately, you won’t have the same memories attached to these images, but they will still be special. This is a chance to hire a different photographer – just remember to do the same thorough research and don’t forget to still hire a professional hair and makeup artist for the same look.

Walking away dissatisfied with your wedding photos is not a great feeling, but at least you are now aware of the potential fixes and how to avoid this situation completely.
