Simple Ways to Get More Sleep Before Your Wedding Day

You might be feeling stressed as your big day gets closer, but having one or two things not go exactly according to plan versus not looking and feeling tired is a fair trade.

The last thing you want is to look at yourself in the mirror and realize that not even makeup can alleviate the dark circles and bags under your eyes.

To avoid this, here are some simple tips you can use to ensure you’re getting enough shut-eye in the days leading up to your wedding.

-          There is such a thing as too much caffeine. There’s nothing like a good cup of coffee to get your day started, but too much caffeine can have adverse effects, particularly when it comes to sleep. A cup of coffee can stay in your system for several hours, so a late cup of coffee can leave you feeling wide awake when you should be getting quality sleep.

-          Get some help. Many of today’s brides are doing a lot of wedding DIY. But, as much as you might be saving money by doing this, it shouldn’t come at the expense of your sleep. If it doesn’t seem like you’re going to get to all your wedding DIY before the big day, it’s time to rope in friends and family – they will be more than happy to do it if it means you’re happy, refreshed and glowing on your wedding day.

-          Go easy on the champagne. You should absolutely celebrate your big day with a glass of bubbly, but try not to start the celebrations too early. Having a glass or two of wine or champagne before bed might make it easier to nod off, but you will see the effects on the day when you realize you didn’t experience deep, relaxing sleep. You may also feel slightly groggier than you need to the next day.

-          Start a month or two in advance. If you don’t already have a good bedtime routine in place, now is the time to do it. The earlier you can get into a good sleep routine, the better it will be for you closer to your wedding. Going to bed at the same time every night, taking a relaxing bath or shower, and making sure your bedroom is at a good temperature at night can all make a big difference.

Taking small steps to get more sleep before your wedding is one of the things you’ll be grateful you did.
